RE: The tariff classification of gloves from Honduras.

Dear Mr. Brown:

In your letter dated October 12, 1999, you requested a classification ruling.

Two samples were submitted for review. Style U243BT-PKNI, is a clute cut work glove constructed of a woven cotton fabric. The complete palmside and backside thumb and forefinger have a rayon fabric inner lining. The glove also features an open cuff measuring 2 inches long with a hemmed bottom. Style U243SG-PKNI is similar to U243BT-PKNI, with the exception of an open cuff measuring 4 ΒΌ inches long with an overlock stitch finish.

The applicable subheading for both gloves will be 6216.00.3800, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Gloves, mittens and mitts: other: of cotton: other: without fourchettes. The duty rate will be 24.2 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
