RE: The tariff classification of a "Monitor Belt" from Taiwan.

Dear Ms. Andrist:

In your letter dated October 17,, 1995, on behalf of Exim Products, Vancouver, Washington, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The sample submitted is a "Monitor Belt" made of nylon woven fabric and measures approximately 38 1/2 inches long by 4 1/2 inches wide. Lengthwise are two strips similar to the VELCRO brand loop fastener. It features elastic loops sewn onto a plastic board and open pockets. The loops and pockets have the same above strips attached to one side to enable them to adhered to the belt. A strap is sewn to each end with a buckle on one strap for fastening. The "Monitor Belt" straps around the perimeter of a computer monitor to serve as an organizer.

The applicable subheading for the "Monitor Belt" will be 6307.90.9989, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other made up articles...Other: Other, other. The rate of duty will be 7 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
