RE: The tariff classification of sintered automotive rings from Germany

Dear Ms. White:

In your letter dated Novermber 29, 1995 you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The item is a sintered ring which will be used in an automotive manual gear box.

The applicable subheading for the sintered ring will be 8708.99.6700, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other parts of automotive drive trains. The rate of duty will be 2.9 percent.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
