However, Inventor 2.1 is not binary compatible with previous releases, and programs will have to be recompiled. Some programs may have to be re-coded to take full advantage of the performance improvements. Programs that extend the toolkit, as described in The Inventor Toolmaker, are more likely to need re-coding because parts of the extender API have changed.
