See reader questions & answers on this topic! - Help others by sharing your knowledge There are no longer laws against any form of contraception in the Republic of Ireland, apart from the RU-486 abortion pill that is also banned in the UK. Ten years ago condoms weren't available to under anybody under 16. Now, possibly as a result of AIDS, these laws restricting contraceptives have been repealed. Condom machines are now commonplace in bars throughout the country.
