RE: The tariff classification of Travoprost (CAS# 157283-68-6) in bulk form, from Taiwan

Dear Ms. Forstenzer:

In your letter dated January 17, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

Travoprost is a prostaglandin PGF2α analogue. It is indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

The applicable subheading for the Travoprost in bulk form, will be 2937.50.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, natural or reproduced by synthesis; derivatives and structural analogues thereof, including chain modified polypeptides, used primarily as hormones: Prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, their derivatives and structural analogues.” The rate of duty will be free.
