RE: The tariff of 2,5,8,11-Tetraoxadodecanedioyl dichloride, CAS 17134-17-7, from the Czech Republic

Dear Ms. Addabbo:

In your letter dated November 8, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

2,5,8,11-Tetraoxadodecanedioyl dichloride, CAS 17134-17-7, also known as Carbonochloridic acid, 1,2-ethanediylbis(oxy-2,1-ethanediyl) ester and Triethylene glycol bis(chloroformate), is an ester of a saturated acyclic monocarboxylic acid halide for use as a bulk pharmaceutical intermediate.

The applicable subheading for 2,5,8,11-Tetraoxadodecanedioyl dichloride will be 2915.90.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Saturated acyclic monocarboxylic acids and their anhydrides, halides, peroxides and peroxyacids; their halogenated, sulfonated nitrated or nitrosated derivatives: Other: Other: Other. The rate of duty will be 3.8 percent ad valorem .
