In your letter dated August 1, 2007, on behalf of The Faucet Queens, Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The submitted item is a 115-piece travel sewing kit called “The Complete Sewing Kit.” Packaged in a reusable plastic storage case, it includes the following composite pieces: scissors, 15 hand needles, threader, 16 spools of thread in multiple colors, 8 buttons, 5 straight pins, a pin cushion, thimble, 40 color head pins, 25 safety pins, a measuring tape and a seam ripper. The submitted sample will be returned to you, as requested.

The applicable subheading for the travel sewing kit will be 9605.00.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Travel sets for personal toilet, sewing or shoe or clothes cleaning (other than manicure and pedicure sets of heading 8214).” The rate of duty will be 8.1% ad valorem.
