RE: The tariff classification of a lanyard from China

Dear Mr. Dubin:

In your letter dated December 11, 2006, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client, Susan Danova, of Tampa, Florida.

The submitted sample is a lanyard made of printed textile fabric. It measures approximately 42”L x 1”W. The lanyard features a plastic snap buckle that allows it to be opened. There is a steel D-ring and a thin attached cord loop on the bottom. You state that the purpose of the lanyard is to hold various items, such as keys, whistles, etc.

The applicable subheading for the lanyard will be 6307.90.9889, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other made up textile articles, other. The rate of duty will be 7% ad valorem.
