RE: The tariff classification of a 3 Panel Screen from Vietnam.

Dear Ms. Castellanos:

In your letter dated July 11, 2006, on behalf of L. Powell Company, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The merchandise under consideration is Item 350-283, 3 Panel Screen. The article consists of three rigid panels connected by metal hinges. Each panel is entirely covered with woven water hyacinth, a vegetable material, and measures 15.74” x 1.57” x 69.3” tall. The screen is designed for placing on the floor. You have submitted a photograph of the item with your request.

The applicable subheading for the 3 Panel Screen will be 9403.80.3030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Other furniture and parts thereof: Furniture of other materials, including osier, bamboo or similar materials: Of cane, osier, bamboo or similar materials, Other: Household.” The rate of duty will be Free.
