RE: The tariff classification of girls’ pullover from China

Dear Ms. Kittel:

In your letter dated April 27, 2006 you requested a classification ruling.

Submitted style 134375, is a long-sleeved, round-necked pullover, manufactured rib-knitted fabric of 100% cotton that does not measure more than nine stitches per two centimeters.

As you have requested, the sample and its accompanying component parts are being returned.

The applicable subheading for this style will be 6110.20.2077, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for sweaters, pullovers, knitted, of cotton, other, other, other, girls’, knit to shape articles described in statistical note 6 to this chapter. The duty rate will be 16.5 percent ad valorem.

The pullover falls within textile category designation 339. Quota and visa status are the result of international agreements that are subject to frequent renegotiations and changes.
