RE: The tariff classification of a man’s shirt from China.

Dear Mr. Lo:

In your letter dated March 13, 2006, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of G-Star & Quadruple Manufacturing Services B.V.

The sample submitted, article number 8319 “Men’s Cole Shirt”, is a men’s close fitting size medium shirt. The shirt is made of a woven solid color 100% cotton fabric. The shirt has a full front opening secured by a left-over-right, five-button covered placket; a pointed spread collar; two patch pockets with flaps at the chest; long hemmed sleeves with a tab secured by a hook and loop fastener at the wrist area; and a curved hemmed bottom with a textile label on the bottom of the left front panel that features the “GS G-Star Raw” tradename.

The applicable subheading for article number 8319 will be 6205.20.2065, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for men’s or boys’ shirts, of cotton, other: other, other: other: men’s. The duty rate will be 19.7% ad valorem.

Article number 8319 falls within textile category designation 340. Quota and visa status are the result of international agreements that are subject to frequent renegotiations and changes.
