RE: The tariff classification of a dyed weft knit fabric cut to a square measuring 18” X 18” from Honduras.

Dear Ms. Helm:

In your letter dated March 7, 2006 you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The submitted sample, designated as code PFLTS-12, is a dyed 100% cotton weft knit fabric of single knit construction cut into a square measuring 45.7 centimeters on a side. This product is constructed using 30 NM yarns and weighs approximately 185 g/m2. Your correspondence indicates that these fabric panels will be used as decorative elements in the manufacture of various articles of apparel.

The applicable subheading for the square weft knit fabric panels designated as code PFLTS-12 will be 6006.22.9020, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other knitted or crocheted fabrics, of cotton, dyed, other, of single knit construction. The rate of duty will be 10 percent ad valorem.

Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Alan Tytelman at 646-733-3045.
