RE: The tariff classification of woman’s knit cardigan from China

Dear Ms. Arloro:

In your letter dated February 14, 2006, you requested a classification ruling. Your garment, identified as style JJFFJP4B, was submitted and will be returned as you have requested. This office is retaining the component panels.

Style JJFFJP4B is a finely knit cardigan, featuring a V-shaped neckline and ¾ length sleeves. The garment is made of fabric whose fiber content is 72% acrylic, 28% nylon knit fabric. The fabric of this garment measures more than 9 but equal to or less than 18 stitches per 2 centimeters measured in the direction in which the stitches were formed.

The applicable subheading for the garment will be 6110.30.3057, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for sweaters, pulloversand similar articles, knitted or crocheted: Of man-made fibers: Other: Other: Other: Other: Women’s or girls’: Knit to shape articles described in statistical note 6 to this chapter. The duty rate will be 32% ad valorem.
