RE: The tariff classification of a blanket from China.

Dear Ms. Marcoux:

In your letter dated January 16, 2006 you requested a classification ruling.

The instant sample, identified as “35 Below Fleece Pocket Blanket” Styles #29400, 29402 & 29404, is a blanket. The blanket is made from 100 percent polyester knit fleece fabric. All of the edges are finished with a fabric binding. The blanket features a self-pocket with a zipper closure. The blanket resembles a pillow when folded and inserted into this pocket. Unfolded the blanket measures 60 inches x 80 inches and folded it measures 15 ¼ inches by 14 ¼ inches.

The applicable subheading for the blanket will be 6301.40.0020, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for . The duty rate will be blankets and traveling rugs: blankets (other than electric blankets) and traveling rugs, of synthetic fibers other. The duty rate will be 8.5 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
