RE: The tariff classification of gloves from China.

Dear Ms. Young:

In your letter dated June 10, 2005, you requested a tariff classification ruling. As per your request, the provided sample will be returned.

Item# 963579 UPC# 0-82686-01196-9 is a pair of children’s “Darth Vader” gauntlet gloves. The gloves are constructed of a finely knitted cotton fabric with a heavy vinyl coating on the outer surface. The gloves feature fourchettes and a hemmed gauntlet bottom measuring approximately 4-1/2 inches in length.

The applicable subheading for the glove will be 6116.10.9500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides Gloves, mittens and mitts, knitted or crocheted: impregnated, coated or covered with plastics or rubber: other: with fourchettes: other. The duty rate will be 7% ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
