RE: The tariff classification of automatic bowling alley equipment parts and accessories from China

Dear Mr. Hoffacker:

In your letter dated March 19, 2004, you requested a tariff classification ruling, on behalf of Bowler’s Superior Inventory, Inc., your client.

You are requesting the tariff classification on three products that are used with automatic bowling alley equipment. They are described as follows: a ball wiper cloth for Bowling Pin Setting Machine, article # 070-004-669; a ball wipe sleeve for Bowling Pin Setting Machine, article # 12-252377-002; and a ball pad for Bowling Pin Setting Machine article # 12-252377-003. The three products will be classified in Chapter 95 of the HTS as parts or accessories of automatic bowling alley equipment, specifically the bowling pin setting machine. The samples will be returned, as requested.

The applicable subheading for the bowling pin setter machine parts or accessories, article numbers: 070-004-669, 12-252377-002, and 12-252377-003 will be 9504.90.9060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for articles for arcade, table or parlor games...automatic bowling alley equipment; parts and accessories thereof: other...bowling equipment and parts and accessories thereof. The rate of duty will be free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
