RE: The Tariff Classification of A Serial Cable from China.

Dear Ms. Grego:

In your letter dated October 8, 2002, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The 25pin serial cable, SKU 803640, sample submitted, is a six-foot serial cable with connectors at both ends.

The applicable subheading for the Serial Cable will be 8544.41.4000, HTS, which provides for other electric conductors, for a voltage not exceeding 80 V: Fitted with connectors: Other: Of a kind used for telecommunications. The rate of duty will be Free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
