RE: The tariff classification of three accessories used in conjunction with electronic games from China.

Dear Ms. Gomez:

In your letter dated September 20, 2002, you requested a tariff classification ruling, on behalf of Electro Source LLC, your client.

You are requesting the tariff classification on three items that are described as accessories for different electronic games. The first of the three accessories is identified as item number PL-629, an extension cable for Play Station game consoles. This extension cable is for Play Station game consoles exclusively, designed and marketed as an accessory for this system. The PL-629 allows the user to extend the space between the Psone and the controller, allowing game play from any location in the room. The second product is designated as item PL-7018, an extension cable for the GameCube game consoles, exclusively. It operates in the same manner as the previous extension cable, however it is designed and marketed for the GameCube system. The third item, PL-2022, is an extension cable for the Xbox, exclusively. The same as the above two cables, it allows the game player to play from any location in a room. Pl-2022 is designed and marketed for the Xbox system. The three extension cables for the three different game systems will be classified in Chapter 95 of the HTSUSA as accessories for video games of a kind used with a television receiver.

The applicable subheading for the three extension cables, PL-629, PL-7018 and PL-2022, will be 9504.10.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for articles for arcade, table or parlor gamesparts and accessories thereof: video games of a kind used with a television receiver and parts and accessories thereof. The rate of duty will be free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Tom McKenna at 646-733-3025.
