RE: The tariff classification of a video camera bag from China and/or Vietnam.

Dear Ms Roberson:

In your letter dated August 15, 2002, you requested a tariff classification ruling for a video camera bag.

The sample submitted is identified as Model #WMS-4. The item is a specially fitted case designed to contain a video camera and accessories. It is manufactured with an exterior surface of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic sheeting. The interior is lined and padded to protect the equipment and features a flexible interior divider offering a custom fit for a variety of equipment. The bag features multiple front and side exterior accessory pockets. It has a top carrying handle, and a removable, adjustable shoulder strap. The bag measures approximately 11”(W) x 8”(H) x 5”(D). It is secured by means of a textile zippered closure.

The applicable subheading for Model #WMS-4 will be 4202.92.9060, Harmonized Tariff Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides in part, for other bags and containers, with outer surface of sheeting of plastic, other, other, other. The rate of duty will be 18.1 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
