RE: The tariff classification of laundry hamper liners from China.

Dear Mr. Sabounjian:

In your letter dated October 4, 2000, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The merchandise to be imported is as follows:

Part number 948086 is a laundry center liner constructed of 100% polyester man-made material that is an integral component to the 2-Tier Laundry Center with Rack.

Part number 947080 is a laundry center liner constructed of 100% cotton material that is an integral component of the Folding Laundry Hamper.

Part number 946085 is a kit of two mesh liners constructed of 100% polyester man-made material that is an integral component of the Double Sorter Laundry Hamper.

Part number 946017 is a mesh liner constructed of 100% polyester man-made material that is an integral component of the Hamper & Tote.

Part number 946010 is a mesh liner constructed of 100% polyester man-made material that is an integral part of the 3-Compartment Sorter Cart.

The above described laundry center liners will not be sold separately but will be imported exclusively as a component part of the end unit. All of the hamper units are designed to stand on the floor.

The applicable subheading for part number 948086, the polyester laundry center liner, part number 946085, the kit of two polyester mesh liners, and part numbers 946017 and 946010, the polyester mesh liners, will be 9403.90.6000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other furniture and parts thereof: parts: other: of textile material, except cotton. The rate of duty will be free.

The applicable subheading for part number 947080, the cotton laundry hamper liner, will be 9403.90.8080, HTS, which provides for other furniture and parts thereof: parts: other: other, other. The rate of duty will be free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
