Dear Mr. Pina:

In your letter dated August, 2000, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of HEI, Inc. of Tucson, Arizona.

There is also a Printed Circuit Assembly that is used in the Network Device Server. The system is used for the transmission of all kinds of information (words, data, images, etc.).

The applicable subheading for the Network Device Server (UDS-10) will be 8517.50.6000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for “ Electrical apparatus for line telephony or line telegraphy, including line telephone sets with cordless handsets and telecommunication apparatus for carrier-current line systems or for digital line systemsOther: Telegraphic: For carrier-current line systems.” The rate of duty will be free.
