RE: The tariff classification of camp seats from Hong Kong.

Dear Ms. Scott:

In your letter dated July 7, 2000, filed on behalf of Cascade Designs, Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The three items are referred to as chair kits. The Ultimate 25, Ultimate 20, and Ultimate 20 ¾ are seats designed to be placed on the floor or ground and are all similar in construction. They are made of nylon and have durable composite stays and adjustable side straps to provide back support. The number represented in the style name describes the seat size. Each chair kit is specially designed to be used with a Therm-a-Rest inflatable mattress. The mattress is inserted into the sewn in sleeve at one end of the chair kit and with the use of the straps and buckles, attaches to the chair. The chair will be imported without the air mattress. The applicable subheading for the chair kits will be 9401.80.6030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other seats, other than household. The duty rate will be free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
