RE: The tariff classification of Lanyard Key Chain from China or Hong Kong.

Dear Mr. Evan:

In your letter dated October 21, 1999 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client Tommy Hilfiger U.S.A., Inc.

The sample (Reference: 99-2537-5(241)I) Style “Hilfiger 2000 Key Chain” is a woven textile strap approximately 17” long and 1/2” wide. “Hilfiger 2000” is imprinted throughout the lanyard. The strap is secured at one end by a metal clip which forms a loop. The end of the loop features a metal swivel hook with metal clip attached.

The sample will be returned as per your request.

The applicable subheading for the “Hilfiger 2000” Lanyard Key Chain will be 7326.90.8585, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Other articles of iron or steel: Other: Other: Other. The rate of duty will be 2.9% ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
