RE: The tariff classification of “Eslon Neo Lumber FFU” from Japan.

Dear Mr. Harris:

In your undated letter, received in this office on October 20, 1999, on behalf of Sekisui America, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

A small sample segment and descriptive literature were provided with your letter. The product is an artificial wood made from foamed polyvinyl chloride and reinforced with glass fibers. The sample has a rectangular cross-section, and for the purposes of this ruling, it is assumed that the imported product will also have a rectangular cross-section.

The applicable subheading for the Eslon Neo Lumber FFU will be 3921.12.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other plates, sheets, film, foil and strip, of plastics: cellular: of polymers of vinyl chloride, other. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
