RE: The tariff classification of a book cover from China.

Dear Mr. Navedo:

In your letter dated September 28, 1999 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample will be returned to you as requested.

The submitted sample is a book cover composed of leather and measuring approximately 8 ½ “ by 5 ½ “ when closed.

The applicable subheading for the book cover will be 4205.00.8000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for “Other articles of leather ort of composition leather: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be Free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
