RE: The tariff classification of clothes hangers from China.

Dear Mr. Weinrauch:

In your letter dated August 12, 1999, on behalf of Impact Imports International, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The samples are being returned as requested.

The sample submitted, style number K7343, consists of three clothes hangers contained in a clear plastic bag. The hangers are made of a plastic frame padded with polyester fiber filling and covered with satin woven fabric. Attached onto the center of each hanger is a metal hook covered with woven textile fabric and a ribbon tied into a bow.

The applicable subheading for the clothes hangers will be 6307.90.9989, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other made up articles . . . Other. The rate of duty will be 7 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
