RE: The tariff classification of imitation jewelry from Korea.

Dear Mr. Woodruff:

In your letter dated June 21, 1999, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The following samples were submitted with your request:

1. Style 0752 “Cutout Rec Link” is a bracelet composed of rectangular silver colored base metal links. It measures 7 1/2 inches in length.

2. Style 0754 “Euro Link” is a bracelet composed of solid bars of silver colored base metal links. It measures 7 1/2 inches in length.

3. Style 0756 “Dbl Snake w Donuts” is a bracelet composed of silver colored base metal beads strung on a silver colored base metal snake chain. It measures 8 1/2 inches in length.

4. Style 0763 “B.V Bracelet 2 Rows” is a bracelet composed of two rows of square plastic beads strung on elasticized cord. It measures 8 inches in circumference and is valued at $2.89.

5. Style 0764 “B.V Bracelet 1 Row” is a bracelet composed of one row of square plastic beads strung on elasticized cord. It measures 8 inches in circumference and is valued at $1.55.

Your samples are being returned as requested.

The applicable subheading for the bracelets, Styles 0752, 0754 and 0756, will be 7117.19.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for imitation jewelry: of base metal, whether or not plated with precious metal: other: other: other. The rate of duty will be 11% ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for the bracelets, Styles 0763 and 0764, will be 7117.90.7500, HTS, which provides for imitation jewelry: other: other: valued over 20 cents per dozen pieces or parts: other: of plastics. The rate of duty will be free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
