RE: The tariff classification of a Christmas stockings from China.

Dear Mr. Evan:

In your letter dated May 6, 1999, you requested a tariff classification ruling on two Christmas stockings.

The stockings, style numbers 7175TRE and 7175TOE are six inches high, six inches wide and constructed of 100% acrylic felt fabric. A loop is permanently attached to the top of each stocking for hanging.

The applicable subheading for the Christmas stockings is 9505.10.2500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for articles for Christmas festivities and parts and accessories thereof: Christmas ornaments: other: other. The rate of duty is free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

Your sample is being returned to you as requested.

A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.
