RE: The tariff classification of women's knit garments from Hong Kong.

Dear Mr. Crabtree:

In your letter dated October 30, 1996, and in your subsequent correspondence received on December 5, 1996, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of Pacific Rainbow ( U.S.A.) LLC.

Style 480404 is a women's T-shirt constructed from 100 percent cotton, finely knit jersey fabric. The T-shirt features short, hemmed sleeves; a rib knit crew neckline; and a hemmed bottom. A silhouette of Mickey Mouse in a heart and the words "Mickey Love" are screen printed on the front panel.

Style 417427 is a women's T-shirt constructed from 100 percent cotton, finely knit jersey fabric. The T-shirt features short, hemmed sleeves; a rib knit crew neckline; and a hemmed bottom. There is large screen print of Minnie Mouse covering the entire front panel.

Style 407484 is a women's T-shirt constructed from 100 percent cotton, finely knit jersey fabric. The garment features short, hemmed sleeves; a rib knit crew neckline; and a hemmed bottom. There is large screen print of Mickey Mouse and Pluto across the front panel and a screen print of Mickey Mouse on the back panel.

Style 404416 is a women's finely knit garment constructed from 100 percent cotton, jersey fabric. The garment features long, close fitting, hemmed sleeves; a rib knit crew neckline; and a hemmed bottom with side slits. The entire garment is screen printed with Mickey Mouse cartoons.

Style 404479 is a women's pullover garment constructed from 100 percent cotton, finely knit jersey fabric. The garment features short, hemmed sleeves; a rib knit crew neckline; and a hemmed bottom. The front panel has a large screen print of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, two small areas of embroidery representing banjo strings, and a large embroidery of the names " Mickey and Minnie".

The applicable subheading for Styles 480404, 417427 and 407484 will be 6109.10.0040, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, (HTS), which provides for: T-shirts, singlets, tank tops and similar garments, knitted or crocheted: of cotton: women's or girls': other: T-shirts: women's. The duty rate will be 20.1 percent ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for Style 404416 will be 6109.10.0070, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, (HTS), which provides for: T-shirts, singlets, tank tops and sim
ilar garments, knitted or crocheted: of cotton: women's or girls': other: other. The duty rate will be 20.1 percent ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for Style 404479 will be 6110.20.2075, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, (HTS), which provides for: Sweaters: pullovers, sweatshirts, waistcoats (vests) and similar articles, knitted or crocheted: of cotton: other: other: women's or girls'. The duty rate will be 19.9 percent ad valorem.

Styles 480404, 417427, 407484, 404416 and 404479 fall within textile category designation 339. Based upon international textile trade agreements, products of Hong Kong are subject to visa requirements and quota restraints.

The designated textile and apparel category may be subdivided into parts. If so, visa and quota requirements applicable to the subject merchandise may be affected. Since part categories are the result of international bilateral agreements which are subject to frequent renegotiations and changes, to obtain the most current information available, we suggest that you check, close to the time of shipment, the Status Report On Current Import Quotas (Restraint Levels), an internal issuance of the U.S. Customs Service, which is available for in
spection at your local Customs office.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
