RE: The tariff classification of 6-APA (CAS 551-16-6) from Scotland and England.

Dear Ms. Gillis:

In your letter dated July 15, 1998, you requested a tariff classification ruling for 6-APA (Chemical Name - 6-Aminopenicillanic Acid).

The applicable subheading will be 2934.90.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other heterocyclic compounds. Pursuant to General Note 13 to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, this product is free of duty.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
