RE: The tariff classification Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, CAS 60-00-4 from Japan

Dear Mr. Kumar:

In your letter dated June 30, 1998 you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The applicable subheading for Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, CAS 60-00-4 will be 2922.49.4050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Amino acid: Other. The rate of duty will be 4.2 percent ad valorem

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
