RE: The tariff classification of a woman's textile and leather belt from Taiwan.

Dear Mr. Weiser:

In your letter dated July 25, 1990, on behalf of Liz Claiborne Accessories, Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling.

One sample was submitted. Style #2275 is a woman's belt composed of leather and textile. The back of the belt and a very small portion on the sides is made of textile stretch fabric. The entire front is made of a multi colored leather. Leather also covers the metal buckle attachment, plus a 3-inch piece containing the belt holes.

The sample will be returned to you as requested.

The applicable subheading for the textile and leather belt will be 4203.30.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for articles of apparel and clothing accessories, of leather or of composition leather: Belts and bandoliers with or without buckles. The rate of duty will be 5.3 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.

Sincerely,

Jean F. Maguire
Area Director
