RE: The tariff classification of dehydrated honey from China.

Dear Mr. Tokin:

In your letter dated January 28, 1997, on behalf of Pacific Honey Corp., Bellevue, WA, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

An ingredients breakdown was submitted with your letter. "Dehydrated honey" consists of 40 percent honey, and 60 percent maltodextrine and/or other anti-caking agent, packed for industrial use in 25 and 50 pound boxes. It is to be used as an ingredient in bakery mixes, bakery products, beverages, coatings for candy and nuts, and as a glaze for various meats, to add moisture, and a sweet, honey flavor.

The applicable subheading for the dehydrated honey will be 2106.90.9998, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for food preparations elsewhere specified or included...other...other...other. The rate of duty will be 8.2 percent.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Stanley Hopard at 212-466-5760.

Sincerely,
