RE: The tariff classification of auto parts from Taiwan.

Dear Mr. Scarbrough:

In your letter dated December 28, 1995 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of Chevy Duty Company, 4319 N.W. Gateway, Kansas City, MO 64150.

You have submitted five items with samples.

The first item is a wiper to cowl bezel. It is a die cast, chrome plated bezel to be placed in front of the windshield. It is located where the wiper transmission fits through the cowl. It is designated as model WCB-54.

The second item is an inside door handle. It is chrome plated. It is designated as model IDH-67.

The third item is a vent window handle. It is the original handle for closing and locking the auto wing window. It is chrome plated. It is designated as model VDH-69L

The fourth item is a window stop bumper. It mounts inside of door to prevent door glass from rolling down too far. It appears to be a rubber article, but no information is supplied as to its material content. It is designated as model WSB-47.

The fifth item is door bumper. It is a rubber bumper for cushioning the door to the cab. It is designated as model DB-67.

The applicable subheading for the cowl bezel (WCB-54) will be 8708.29.5060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other automotive body parts. The duty rate will be 2.9% ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for the inside door handle (IDH-67) will be 8302.30.3060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other fittings and mountings of iron, steel, zinc, or aluminum for motor vehicles. The duty rate will be 2.7% ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for the vent window handle ((VDH-69L) will be 8302.30.3060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other fittings and mountings of iron, steel, zinc, or aluminum for motor vehicles. The duty rate will be 2.7% ad valorem.

Your inquiry does not provide enough information for us to give a classification ruling on the window stop bumper (WSB-47) or the door bumper (DB-67). Your request for a classification ruling should include the name of the kind of rubber used in their fabrication. We are returning the samples. If you resubmit another ruling request with the necessary information, please include the samples again.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Robert DeSoucey at 212-466-5667.

Sincerely,

Roger J. Silvestri
