RE: The tariff classification of 4-Bromo-1,2-(Methylenedioxy) Benzene (CAS 2635-13-4) from England.

Dear Mr. Chivini:

In your letter dated August 17, 1995, you requested a tariff classification ruling for 4-bromo-1,2-(methylenedioxy) benzene (Chemical Name - 5-bromo-1,3-benzodioxale) which you have stated is a pharmaceutical intermediate.

The applicable subheading will be 2932.90.6000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for heterocyclic compounds with oxygen hetero-atom(s) only: other. The rate of duty will be 12.8 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
