RE: The tariff classification of Camera Straps from Hong Kong, Taiwan, or
Korea

Dear Mr. Hall:

In your letter dated March 3, 1994, on behalf of Charles Beseler Co., you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The camera strap, Model LE-600, is a nylon strap with a cushioned suede shoulder pad, plastic buckles, and metal fittings. It is designed to attach to a 35 mm SLR camera by two methods. The strap may be fastened to the camera by using a vinyl piece that fits over a lug on each side of the camera or by using a nylon adjustable loop strap with a plastic buckle for fastening the strap to a split ring attachment on the camera.

The applicable subheading for the camera strap will be 9006.91.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for parts and accessories for cameras. The rate of duty will be 5.8 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.

Sincerely,

Jean F. Maguire
Area Director
