RE: The tariff classification of brass beer tap parts from Italy.

Dear Mrs. Spurgeon:

In your letter dated November 22, 1993, you requested a tariff classification ruling, on behalf of Sabco Industries, Toledo, OH.

The subject items are stainless steel and chrome plated brass spare parts and accessories for beer kegs. There are two groups of products spears and couplers described as follows:
a) Three-edged "SI" security spears - thread 2" 14 TPI or 52 x 1/6" rd for all tube lengths.
b) Three-edged spear - thread 2" 14 TPI or 52 x 1/6" rd for all tube lengths.
c) Security "SI" flat spear - thread 2" 14 TPI or 52 x 1/6" rd for all tube lengths.
d) "Well type" spears - thread 2" 14 TPI or 52 x 1/6" rd for all tube lengths.
e) "Kombe" spears - thread 2" 14 TPI or 52 x 1/6" rd for all tube lengths.
f) Coupler - 25 cm tube of brass
g) Party beer pump couplers - G 5/8" thread tubes of 4mm and 10mm

The applicable subheading for the 5 different types of stainless steel spears will be 7326.90.9090, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other articles of iron or steel, other. The duty rate will be 5.7% ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for the brass couplers will be 7419.99.5050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other articles of copper: other: other. The duty rate will be 5% ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.
