RE: The tariff classification of radio cassette players and tape rewinders from China.

Dear Mr. Coe:

In your letter dated February 19, 1993, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The imported items are described as follows:

1) DPI C3034- Portable DC powered cassette player with headphone.

2) Solidex V 1957A - AC powered VHS video cassette tape rewinder.

The applicable subheading for DPI C3034 cassette player, will be 8519.91.0080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other sound reproducing apparatus. The rate of duty will be 3.7 percent ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for Solidex V 1957A tape rewinder will be 8522.90.9080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for reception apparatus incorporating a digital clock or clock timer. The rate of duty will be 3.9 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.
