RE: The tariff classification of radio receivers, cassette players and clock radio from China and Philippines.

Dear Mr. Coe:

In your letter dated February 19, 1993, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The imported items are described as follows:

1) DPI C3072- Portable DC powered AM/FM stereo radio, cassette player with headphone.

2) DPI D506 - AM/FM clock radio, AC powered with 9 volt battery backup (battery not included).

3) DPI D525 - AM/FM clock radio, AC powered with 9 volt battery backup (battery not included).

4) DPI C730- Portable AM/FM stereo radio cassette/player recorder with speakers, AC/DC powered.

5) DPI A309- Portable multi-band receiver with speaker, AC/DC powered.

The applicable subheading for DPI C3072 AM/FM cassette player, will be 8527.11.1100, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for reception apparatus incorporating tape players which are incapable of recording. The rate of duty will be 3.7 percent ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for DPI D506 AM/FM clock radio, will be 8532.0010, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for reception apparatus incorporating a digital clock or clock timer. The rate of duty will be 6 percent ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for DPI D525 AM/FM clock radio, will be 8532.0010, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for reception apparatus incorporating a digital clock or clock timer. The rate of duty will be 6 percent ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for DPI C730 AM/FM cassette player/recorder, will be 8527.11.2040, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides radio-tape recorder combinations. The rate of duty will be 6 percent ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for DPI A309 portable multi-band radio receiver with speaker, will be 8327.39.0040, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other radiobroadcast receivers. The rate of duty will be 6 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.
