Waring blenders were the first blenders made available in the mid 1930's, and remain a reliable and well performing make of blender. The blender itself has a 'classic' appearance, with a heavy but solid glass jar and a metallic base available in either copper or steel. The glass container can carry 40 ounces and the removable lid also double as a one ounce measure to make your job even easier. It's possible to put both the glass container and the lid in the dishwasher to clean it.
The motor is 390 watts, which isn't the most powerful motor available in a blender but works perfectly with the design of the Waring blender. The shape of the glass container and blades is unique to the Waring, which manages to draw the contents back down to the blades instead of allowing it to rise up in the glass jar and avoid being mixed. In the past I've had to stop blenders mid-process and move the food around to ensure that it's completely blended, but the Waring has never needed it.
Waring have cleverly sold their blender with a one year warranty and a five year warranty for the motor, which is the part that breaks on most blenders first. Unfortunately, whereas the Waring is great for simple blending tasks, it misses out on a lot of the more advanced blending techniques that other blenders have. It can't crush ice and it doesn't have a pulse function or a timer for example. The Waring is flawless if you want a blender that won't break down and can take care of easy tasks, but I don't think that it should carry the 'professional' label when it isn't suitable for delicate tasks. Also, at $190.00, you can buy a much more capable blender with simple accessories like a timer and pulse function.
