The Samsung 63" Class (62.9"Diag.) 8000 Series 3D 1080 Plasma HDTV

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

The Samsung 63" Class (62.9"Diag.) 8000 Series 3D 1080 Plasma HDTV is the only television I considered after looking at comparable models. The image quality is excellent, the sound is unmatched, and the 1080 plasma feature guarantees you'll seldom care to view a 3D movie in theatres again.

My husband wanted this television for his birthday and I held my breath while he made some adjustments to our bedroom (like knocking out a picture window) so he could have the appropriate wall space for this plasma giant. We were warned when we started our search for a larger plasma HDTV to shop around and pay particular attention to how much heat these things put out. I never noticed excessive heat as being a problem with any of the more expensive televisions but there were some significant differences in sound and color quality.

I can't get over what a big difference the red-black filter makes in plasma televisions. The colors are brighter, more pronounced. The characters practically leap from the screen.

Our Samsung has a much better overall viewing package than most televisions of equal value. The onscreen controls take some getting used to but the functions are user-friendly and manageable after a quick glance at the easy-to-follow instructions.

I love the digital applications. Everything is right in front of me while I'm watching my favorite shows. I can check my favorite social networking sites, see if new YouTube conference videos are uploaded on time, and even track my favorite football teams through sports channels. Samsung's smart applications make relaxing fun again. I don't sit in front of the television with a laptop on my lap.

I feel like I have reserved seating and the best ticket in the house. At right around $3800, this television is a great value because of the unmatched quality.
