The LIFESMART Power Plus Infrared Portable Furnace

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

This Amish designed space heater can make a big room comfortable on those cold winter days. I wouldn't advise it for someone who wanted to heat their entire home, but it is said that this one unit is adequate for 1500 sq feet. I use it for a small building in my backyard that I call my "shop." It's more of a hangout for the guys when the wives have something going on in the main house.

It is actually too good looking for the shop because it is a beautiful piece of furniture. I don't understand all I should know about how the thing works, but it heats my out building rather comfortably without using a great deal of electricity. At 1500 watts, it should probably pull as much power as a hair dryer.

I tried using the portable furnace in the house once, just to see what I could expect if I needed it in an emergency. It kept a spot warm, but it just can't radiate heat that far from where it sits to really do much good in a place with multiple rooms.

I could have bought something else for less money that might have done as well, but the Lifesmart Furnace seemed like a good investment for the cost. The list on this unit was $399.99. In our second year with the portable furnace, we used it at the lake house when we went up for Christmas. It didn't overheat the place and it kept the temperature comfortable.

Most space heaters make my head stop up because they burn up the oxygen, but this one just seems to supply heat without that side effect. You'll like how simple it is to move from one room to another.

This is an excellent way to get just a little more heat, especially when you have older people who get chilled. You'll like having it for a backup heat source.
