The warnings attached to the Teavanna Perfect TeaMaker should've been this consumer's warning as well. First, I should scold myself for buying anything for the purpose of making tea. There's one way to make perfect tea as far as I'm concerned--the old fashioned way with a tea bag and hot water straight from the kettle. However, for those of us who like gadgets, there's the Teavanna Perfect TeaMaker and a perfect way to waste twenty bucks.
The product is not dishwasher friendly and consumers are fairly advised of this in so many words. Hand washing is recommended and the tea maker is top shelf safe for a dishwasher, but then the warning goes on to mention abrasive scrubbing should be avoided for product cleaning so that should've been my first clue. The product is cheap. There's nothing durable about it.
Functionality is a joke. I don't have time to align this tea maker on top of my favorite mug, dump the tea leaves and water in the tea maker and wait for a slow brewing of tea.
The lid and strainer are stainless steel so a little hot water and suds will clean the tea maker without a lot of effort but be prepared for a mess. It's not impossible to line up the mug with the strainer but I don't have the patience to make sure there's a perfect fit each time I'm ready for a cup of tea and doubt many other consumers will take the additional time.
There must be better products on the market. If not, I prefer the kettle and tea bags. Less mess and a quicker cup of hot tea. The Teavanna Perfect TeaMaker isn't reliable and really shouldn't be on the market at all.
