Summer Infant Delux Sleek and Secure Video Monitor Set

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

The Summer Infant Deluxe Sleek and Secure Video Monitor Set has some really great features, as well as features that could use improvement. The monitor set comes with two camera bases and a belt clip. The camera bases are 9"x9"x4" and weigh two pounds. With the deluxe set, a parent has the ability to monitor two rooms at the same time, so one child could be playing in a playroom while the baby is in his crib sleeping in another room. With the 4-way split screen, the parent can view both rooms at once or scan between the two rooms. The screen is a color LCD screen and has the capability of recording night vision. During the day, pictures are clear and sharp. However, at night, they are grainy and blurry.

The monitor set is ideal for a parent who works at home. Instead of having to constantly get up to check on the little ones, the monitor lets you keep an eye on things. It also comes with a two way intercom. For older kids, you can press a button and verbally give a reminder or warning if they're displaying inappropriate behavior. If they need you for something, they can use the intercom. Take note that the sound is sometimes inferior. It is digital sound and you may have to repeat what you say a couple of times.

One reason why we switched to the Summer monitor set was that our previous set interfered with our wireless modem and one of our cordless phones. Basically whenever we used the monitor set, we couldn't use our laptops. With the Summer monitor set, we have not experienced any interference. Also, our old set worked with our neighbor's set! She was able to see our baby on her screen! It was scary to us that anyone could purchase the same model and know information about our home!

Overall, we are satisfied with the Summer monitor set. We paid about $300 for it which was more than several other monitor sets that we looked at, but it was important for us to have one that wouldn't interfere with our laptops and couldn't be read by other monitor sets in the neighborhood. It also came with a one year warranty.
