Oster 16-Speed Blender

Rating: 2 out of 5
  • Currently 2.0/5.0

From the looks of this sleek styled blender, you would think it would be a great addition to any modern kitchen. Unless you can figure out how to reassemble this blender after you clean it, you would be mistaken. But it does have a great design and will look good in your kitchen.

This Oster blender does work as good as it looks. It is a nice looking unit with large, easy to read buttons on the front. There are 16 speeds, more then enough to create the dish you wish. The speeds include: pulse, stir, puree, chop, whip, ice crush, grate, shred, mash to liquefy and frappé.

The large glass jar has clear measurements on it and sits stable on the base. The glass jar holds up to five cups. The problems arrive if you don't assemble the pieces correctly. In my experience it is very easy to put all the pieces back together in the wrong order. The only hint you have that something is incorrect is from the smell of burning plastic or the little black pieces left when you take it apart again.
Oster needs a better design with this 16 speed blender. They need to figure out a way to prevent you from putting the blade, sealing ring and threaded disc on in the wrong order. If you are able to remember how to put these piece back in the correct order after each use, this is a great blender. Despite the problems stated above, it is very easy to clean. And most of the parts are dishwasher safe (not the motor of course).

It is designed with an all metal drive system for durability. The motor has 450 watts of power and can easily pulverize ice with the specialized stainless steel ice crusher blade.
