I recently bought a blender for the family, and was very cautious when doing so. My kids are alone a lot of the time, and are too old to have a babysitter, but I still worry about my younger ones using the blender and breaking it - I've had those kinds of incidents happen in the past, and it's not pretty. However, I wanted a functional blender that was also aesthetically pleasing and didn't throw off the look of my kitchen, which I had recently renovated, and wanted to maintain a stylish and sleek look. I picked up the Oster 12-Speed Blender 6811, because I liked that it was the best of both worlds, and at a good price.
The blender comes with a 48 ounce glass carafe, with measurement markings that are both by the cup and by the liter, and also has a removable cap and can even crush ice - my kids love making slushies and smoothies with ice and other ingredients, so I knew this was necessary. The shape and size of the blender, kind of round and like a clover, is also specially meant for making blended drinks like smoothies and milkshakes, along with sauces and different dips, all favorites of my kids. I really like that the ribs of the blender keep the food and ingredients pressed down towards the centre, ensuring that the foods blended - I hate when the kids try and push it down themselves, and I always get nervous that they'll cut themselves! There are also all kinds of blending options and different speeds that really allow you to let short, huge bursts of energy to blend your food. One of the best features that I really love, and the kids love too, is that you can add ingredients while the food is blending, and doesn't leak at all. The blender is also gorgeous, and very modern and well designed. I definitely made the right choice in choosing my blender - and the kids' love it.
