A traditional turkey fryer is a great way to fix a delicious turkey that is moister than anything to ever come out of an oven. However, it is also a dangerous way to prepare a meal with the high quantity of hot oil involved. The Orion Cooker is the new way to fry a turkey without the danger. It uses a combination of cooking systems including convection, steam and smoke all at the same time. The indirect heat creates convection current so you can fix your turkey in even less time.
I have gotten such great results with my Orion Cooker that I fix all kinds of meats in it including brisket, roast, and all types of seafood. My favorite is Salmon and it is a healthier way to fix healthy foods than cooking in oil. It's too easy to create a delicious meal and it fixes a turkey up to 24 pounds in a lot less time than my old turkey fryer.
The Orion Cooker was easy to assemble and I had it ready to go in about twenty minutes. It did take a whole bag of charcoal but it also gives me the option of trying different types of wood chips for a variety of flavors. Although cooking with the cooker doesn't leave the intense smoke flavor that you will normally get with a regular smoker, it depends on the type of wood chips you use and the type of meat you are cooking. It also helps to add more chips. One big benefit over a smoker is that the smoke is concentrated in the cooker and doesn't leave everything and everyone around it smelling like smoke, too.
Once I cooked my first turkey in the Orion Cooker, I put my old turkey fryer out in a yard sale. For one thing, a fryer simply adds too much grease and bad fats to the food it cooks at a time when that is the last thing anyone is looking for. Most importantly, though, the Orion Cooker provides a much better result with moist, tender meat and there are no flame-ups. Also, I practically ignore mine while it is cooking because it takes care of everything itself.
The Orion Cooker comes with a cooking chart to tell you how long to leave it in the cooker and so far, it has been just right. Leaving food in for too long can cause it to dry out so you should stick with the recommended cook times. This cooker prepares all types of meats and makes them tastier, moister, and healthier.
