Optimus H4110 9 Inch Dish Heater

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

I wanted a small inexpensive space heater to keep me warm and toasty while watching TV or reading at night so I purchased this Optimus dish heater. It works well for the price and can easily keep me warm even if I am 5 or 6 feet away from the unit. It doesn't heat the whole room, just the immediate area around it in the direction where the dish is pointed.

I was actually surprised by how well this heater worked for the price. It is not as effective as larger, more expensive space heaters, but works great especially considering how little power it uses. They say that the heater uses about 300 watts which the equivalent of about 3 light bulbs and it certainly gets a lot hotter than that.

It seems pretty safe and I don't worry about it setting fire to the house although I only use it while I am in the same room. It doesn't have automatic turn off when it tips over like some more expensive models do.

Another downside to this product is the very short cord. I find that it must be very close to the outlet to reach and it makes it difficult to keep this on a desk or table. I wish the cord was a couple feet longer, although this can be remedied by using and extension cord.

I also wish that the front face of the heater was removable. It can get dusty and it is almost impossible to clean out the inside. If the front cover could pop open it would be much more convenient when it comes to cleaning.

This is a good heater and a great value for the money. It heats a relatively small area effectively but works best when used in conjunction with another heater.
