Nilfisk HDS 2000 Vacuum Cleaner

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

After going through a number of vacuums over the last few years, this brand was suggested to me by a commercial cleaner. I needed something that lasted over time, worked consistently well and did not scratch my floor. This one was not a bad price, about the average price of professional grade vacuums.

Because of the recommendation, I was expecting the suction to be excellent and I was not let down. The suction is amazing and it's very easy to handle. Other vacuums with this level of power are sometimes a bit harder to use and you find yourself pushing harder to get it across the floor. This vacuum glides with ease over any surface and does not leave any marks or scratches behind - I have used it on floorboards, carpet, tiles and furniture.

It uses a HEPA filter which is perfect for dust. I have a concrete backyard and the dust blows in constantly, I'll vacuum it all up and it will be completely gone. No particles in the air left behind or anything on the floors. This made a big difference in actually changing the bag of the vacuum as well. Normally when removing a full bag, dust will fly around a bit as it escapes but there was none of that. Definitely allergy friendly.

I was surprised by how quiet it is. Probably the quietest one I've had. It barely interrupts activities around.

The cord length is great - 15 metres. I can get around most of the house using the same connection. The hose is also quite a good length as well. There is a disadvantage that goes with the cord; it doesn't retract or have any hooks on the body to tie to which makes it knot quite easily, especially when going back and forth from room to room.

The weight is heavier than most vacuums I have used. It is still able to be moved around with no problem but I would not like to take it up and down stairs if I had to. The weight also makes it is a little bulkier to move around. That, along with the long loose cord, can sometimes be a bit difficult when moving around furniture.
